Emmenagogues (also spelled emmenagogs) are herbs which stimulate blood flow in the pelvic area and uterus; some stimulate menstruation. Women have used plants such as mugwort, parsley, chamomile and ginger to cause an abortion or prevent pregnancy (see Abortifacient).
