1 When you gain relatives through marriage, they are called in-laws / in-laws, e.g. your wife’s mother is your mother-in-law / mother-in-law. Your brother’s wife is your sister-in-law / sister-in-law. Also father-in-law / father-in-law and brother-in-law / brother-in-law; son-in-law / son-in-law and daughter-in-law / daughter-in-law.
