Nowadays it is not rare for teachers to complain that their students are indifferent to those around them. Some are even worried that the younger generation may become too selfish to shoulder any responsibility for the care and concern for others. As is shown in the drawing, some young students are sitting comfortably on a bus while a senior citizen has to stand. All of these students imply that they are much more tired than the poor elderly man because of the burden of their coursework.

As a university student, I must admit that young people today are in general more self-centered and unsympathetic than previous generations. Many young people attend exclusively to their own needs. The "me" generation tend to think that they are the center of attention and that anybody outside their own circle is of no importance whatsoever. This, of course, leads not to self-awareness but self-aggrandizement. As a poet famously said, "No man is an island."

To sum up, I subscribe tothe idea that today's young people in China are more selfish and self-centered than previous generations. We should think more about others and less about ourselves.

现在，经常可以听到老师们抱怨他们的学生对周围的人漠不关心。有些老师甚至担心年轻一代可能变得太自私而无法承担关爱他人的责任。如图所示，在一辆公交车上，一些年轻学生舒服地坐着，而一位老人则不得不站着。这些学生都暗示，由于有课业负担，他们比这个可怜的老人累多了。

作为一名大学生，我必须承认当今的年轻人总体上比前几代人更加以自我为中心和冷漠无情。很多年轻人只关注自己的需求。以自我为中心的一代往往认为自己是人们关注的焦点，自己圈子以外的任何人一点儿也不重要。当然，这会导致自我膨胀，而不是产生自我意识。正如一位诗人说的一句名言："没有人是一座孤岛。"

总之，我赞同这种观点：当今中国的年轻人比前几代人更加自私、以自我为中心。我们应该多为他人考虑，少考虑自己。
